This image has a sad story - We planted a little cherry tree a bit over a year ago and this spring was its first full bloom. This is the photo I took with some digital manipulation added. Soon after the blooms fell, the tree got severely week-wacked by an over zealous grass cutter... and it killed the tree. Turns out that the tree had been planted without the root ball wrap being removed and I guess cherry trees don't like that. The trunk abuse was the final insult. It was sad when the tree died so this image is really special to me. But the good news is that the replanted new Cherry tree is thriving and growing very fast!

Because of my graphic design background, my artistic techniques lean heavily on digital techniques. While my imagery was a combination of photography, hand work, and overlays "back in the day" before computer graphics became the norm ...not much has changed. My techniques are based on digital tools now but the concepts of building the art are not that different. For the digital paintings you see in my collections I use a Wacom tablet with a pressure sensitive pen to hand draw in Photoshop using artist media brushes.
